Re: Rigging
I guess what I need to do first (apart from finishing the boat <BG> )
is to take a look at the mast and see what lines go where.
>From memory, the starboard side has 3 lines coming out of the mast
base, through a Harken 3-sheave deck organizer, and back to the cabin
top where there were 3 Spinlock PX Powercleats, with a Lewmar #6
winch just aft of the cleats.
The port side is identical, except there are onlt 2 lines running aft
through a 2-sheave deck organizer to 2 Powercleats and the #6 winch.
Looking at the fitting instructions for the Powercleats it indictes
they are not to be used in conjunction with a winch, only to be used
for hand-tensioned loads. Hmmmm any feedback on this one?
I have to figure out how far apart to space the cleats, and how far
forward of the winch to locate them, and if I should center the winch
on the center cleat. Lots of fun ... I'll be happy to be that far
along!
Meanwhile, I've got a bank of a dozen flourescent lights mounted over
the boat, so early darkness is no longer an issue. I think the
neighbors suspect I have a grow op going ;)
With all the wet weather, I've moved operaions to the heated shop and
have been busy re-finishing all the interior and exterior pieces of
woodwork. Looks like it'll be a while before any painting can be done
in the boat shed.
