I race on one of each.
In the race last Saturday we had 4 Synergies...
2 symmetric and 2 asymmetric.
It costs a lot to change to symmetric, but in
this area it seems to give a slight advantage
right now because they rate 54 in PHRF with
either configuration.

Getting the asymmetric around the forestay can
take a few seconds, especially if it doesn't want
to go and no one got hold of it to force it out
on the lee side after the gybe.

It goes really fast when done right.

Even symmetric gybes can be fast, but
it takes practice to make it look easy.
