Re: Outboard Motor Bracket Transom Angle Adapter

George,
It would certainly handle the up. The down is by gravity, since there
aren't any springs to counterbalance the weight of the motor. It also
wouldn't help with the travel, which is the main reason that I
modified the SS mount. The standard lever restricts the motion, but
keeps the hairpin springs from being overloaded. By removing the
lever and substituting the tackle, the swing is only limited by the SS
arms. They now bind at the top (which is normal) and bind at the
bottom (which gives me the extra throw)
I had the original Michigan Wheel sliding motor mount and removed it
because I found it too nerve-racking to slide the motor up and hook
the ears in the little "U" at the top of the slides. I was always
worried that I'd lift it too far, it would tip back and it would be
bye-bye engine. (I know, add a safety line, but I still had visions
of a very wet engine.)
The tackle of a double with a becket opposite a triple gives 5:1 or
6:1, depending how you reave the line on the blocks and on to the
cleat. A lot of line to haul, but not much effort and very controlled
motion. Add a clam cleat at the top or tie it off to a horn cleat and
you'll be all set.

Look forward to seeing Spaghetti in the water. Take care.
