Elec. Outboards

The idea of using elec. outboard power sounds great, but it appears 
that the elco outboard is set up for 48 volts.  Thats 4 12volt 
batteries at about 50lbs each plus the 80lbs of the motor.

Thats a lot of weight to place on the boat.  Additionally since 
sailboats are designed to heel, you would need to have spill proof 
batteries.  Just imagine all that battery acid in the bottom of the 
boat.

  Charging batteries creates explosive gases, which is another hazard 
to deal with...

Think I'll stick with my old honda 4 stroke.
