Re: Lift Points (Deck Penetrations for Sling) & Unstepping the Mast

I would like to see pictures of some hoist
arrangements.

I'm intending to to the same thing... I was just
going to put a screw-in deck plate; it hadn't
occurred to me to use a deck plate that I could
also replace with a cowl vent. I'd prefer a screw
in type because I think it'd be more watertight
when the plate is in place.

I could also put one in the forward hatch... might
even be a way to mount it perfectly flush... just
for ventilation.

Back to lifting the boat from the trailer...

I'd like to know more about lifting slings for
the keel bolts. I figure a forged eye on each of
the keel bolts that are used to lift would be
a good way to go, but would they be low enough
to leave in place and still fit the bilge cover?

How many holes through the deck are required?

What does the sling look like?

What is the "Slider" you mentioned?

Where would the deck penetrations best be located?
(what did you do, and why didn't it work perfectly)?

Can the boat be lifted w/o taking down the mast?

How do you avoid damage to the headfoil and the
standing rigging when unstepping the mast?
